Lights, Camera, Action!: Movie Night at IAHD April 15, 2024

All three IAHD day habilitation programs– Tarrytown, St. Mary’s, and Bainbridge– participated in a first ever synchronous movie night! Streaming from Tarrytown and shared on Zoom, our audiences in the Bronx and Westchester watched the 2019 film The Peanut Butter Falcon starring Shia LaBeouf, Dakota Johnson, and Zack Gottsagen. At a later date after watching the movie, these IAHD moviegoers will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with Gottsagen, who has Downs Syndrome, to discuss his experiences as an actor with an Intellectual/Developmental Disability.

The people we support were situated in rows as if they were in a movie theatre and were given snack bags of all the best foods a movie theatre has to offer. Everyone had an awesome time not only with the people in their specific program, but with other members of the IAHD community they may not get to see very often. It was great to have the three day programs participate and interact in solidarity for a common activity; hopefully, we will be able to do this on a more frequent basis!
