HONORING OUR HEROES
A virtual fundraising event to honor the Essential Workers of IAHD who give relentless commitment and unwavering dedication to the people in their care throughout this COVID-19 Pandemic.
During this one-hour “HONOR OUR HEROES” fundraising event, IAHD will tell the story of the Essential Workers on the frontline of this pandemic, how they came together to fight this deadly sickness and how together, we will all create a better tomorrow. We will honor a few of the many who sacrificed so much and, in the end, helped save lives!
People with I/DD are some of the most vulnerable to a sickness like COVID-19 and IAHD’s Essential Workers have truly proven themselves as the Heroes among us. These are folks who have shown up EVERY DAY… taken risks, made personal sacrifices and continue to do so to this day.
IAHD’s mission is to provide individualized supports and services to people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) and their families. IAHD’s promise is to provide a lifetime supportive approach for each individual and these Essential Workers are at the heart of this promise. IAHD is incredibly grateful for the dedication and commitment of these very special HEROES who do very special work. JOIN US to celebrate the HEROES of IAHD!!

Denise Dunkley
Direct Support Professional, DeVito Residence
In the 14 years Denise Dunkley has been with IAHD, she had never seen anything like the effects the COVID-19 pandemic, especially when her entire household became sick with the virus. When the first Devito House resident was released from the hospital to the Isolation site at Bainbridge, Denise was the first one on board to be on-site, ready to welome them to the next phase of their recovery; a familiar face and voice was some of the best medicine the individuals could have received.
