Happy Hauntings from IAHD! October 31, 2025
Halloween is always a special time at IAHD, and this year was no exception!
🧟 St. Maryās unofficially began spooky season at IAHD with Halloween-themed BINGO! Bainbridge and Day Hab Without Walls (DHWW) joined the morning festivities, which included freshly made cotton candy, spooky decorations, and of course, many happy BINGO winners!

🎃 In the middle of October, every residence and day program had the ability to compete against each other in a no carve pumpkin decorating contest. Participating groups were able to share their creations with others in the organization, so they could vote on their favorites in the categories of most creative, spookiest, and most mission-inspired pumpkins. Congratulations to our artists at our Bainbridge program for winning the category of spookiest pumpkin(s) and to our Ryer residence for winning both the most creative and most mission-inspired categories! See all the creative pumpkin pieces made by our individuals below.

🪦IAHD Creative Arts Coordinator Johnny also helped make the Halloween season scary good for the people we support at our day programs. At St. Maryās, individuals made a variety of festive art pieces including costume masks, while the Tarrytown day program artists made vibrant paintings.

🧛 Every year, some of our residence homes participate in the official Bronx Halloween costume parade. This year, while many individuals watched others march, a group of staff and individuals from our East Tremont and Benedict residences participated in giving others a fright as they followed the parade route.

🐈⬛ The Ryer residence held its first ever āSpooky Festā for the individuals in their home and others who RSVP-ed from the Yorktown, Colden, West 184th, and DeVito residences the day before Halloween. Everyone came in costumes and enjoyed the creative snacks made by Ryer themselves, the movie theatre they set up, their photobooth, and the abundance of very scary decorations both inside and outside the house!

👻IAHD day programs and homes had a spooktacular time celebrating Halloween on the 31st!
