All Around IAHD: November 2025 December 1, 2025

🎖️ Happy Veteran’s Day to all who have served. At IAHD, we took this day to acknowledge Ron, participant at the Tarrytown day program and a resident in one of our Westchester homes. In 1981, he participated in a 3-month long training as a member of the US Army in Fort Jackson, SC. Thank you for your service, Ron!

⭐ IAHD is excited to report that two new IAHD representatives, Jeffrey and Nayquan, attended the Self-Advocacy Association of New York State (SANYS) Annual State-Wide Conference in Albany in early November. This was an incredible experience, and very exciting to have more people interested in joining the IAHD Self-Advocates. Huge thank you to IAHD staff members Kayla, Germaine, and Charron for collaborating to make this happen for these two men.

Jeffrey advocated for himself to attend this conference and has been prominently featured on the OPWDD Facebook and LinkedIn pages – thanks again to everyone for making his dream of attending the Annual SANYS conference in Albany a reality!

🎨 Participants from IAHD’s Bainbridge and Day Hab Without Walls (DHWW) programs enjoyed thieir monthly visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In honor of Indigenous Peoples Month, they learned about art made by groups like the Inca, Aztec, and Taino and were able to immerse themselves further in their study of Indigenous art by creating small pinch pots using model magic clay and feathers.

🎶 Long-time partner, the Concordia Conservatory, hosted a show from their UNIQUE series on November 8, 2025, at the Reformed Church in Bronxville, NY. The UNIQUE Series is a 30-minute interactive performance designed for neurodiverse individuals. The series offers a sensory-rich experience with music and visuals tailored to diverse preferences, creating an inclusive and engaging environment for all. IAHD residents and staff attended and enjoyed this interactive musical show focusing on how music can make you feel.
