The Thanksgiving celebrations at IAHD are always favorite events as each day program prepares a special luncheon for everyone to enjoy. The smells of delicious food cooking wafts throughout all the buildings and culminates in a holiday luncheon where everyone enjoys the tastes of the foods that were prepared. This year, there were additional celebrations in recognition of Native American Heritage month at some of the Day Habilitation programs. At the Bainbridge Avenue site, the customs of various Native American tribes, including Cherokee, Navajo, Seminole and Coddo, were celebrated. The Pre-Vocational group even built a giant teepee and their presentation culminated in a dance around their “Chief,” while the audience danced and sang along.
